“We didn’t expect to come here and win” reflected Paul Davis afterwards “but I wasn’t necessarily expecting to get beat either.”
“It was a bit of a free hit for us. They’re top of the league and on a good run but I actually thought that we were still in the game at half time .
Then a silly mistake gives them a second goal but we got back into the game and were doing well until another mistake leads to the penalty for their third.
But on the whole we did OK. I thought that Kyle Rowley and Michael Townsend were absolutely outstanding , Rhys Davies made a world class save in the opening minute and Kyle Perry this afternoon was the Kyle Perry that we all love to see.
He completely bullied their centre halves and showed that he’s now got to be in the starting line-up.
If you look at our team sheet today you will see that we’ve got a strong squad and we’re going to try and add to it this week.
So I think that we are heading in the right direction. The other teams around us also lost today so we’re now in a better position as it’s another game ticked off.
We’re under no illusions that we’ve got some big games coming up but this one wasn’t one that we’d targeted for points. Alvechurch, Leiston and St Ives are the games to get the points from and wins in those should see us safe.” .
