Strengthening the squad further, attacker Chris Lait returns to Stratford Town – https://www.stratfordtownfc.co.uk/news/bards-secure-another-key-signing?id=414584
This will be Chris’ third spell at the Town having played for us in 2012 and then in 2013 was part of the promotion-winning team under Carl Adams. According to my stats, Chris scored 4 goals in 6 games in 2012 and 7 goals in 20 games (8 as sub) in 2013.
Stratford Town will go to the seaside – Cleethorpes Town (Northern Premier League Division One East) for the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round on Saturday 3 September after Cleethorpes beat Handsworth (Sheffield) 5-1 in their reply. Interestingly, 2 of the committee have close ties to Cleethorpes in their younger days!
Let’s hope for a repeat of last year’s record cup run or even go further.
As the headline in the Non League Paper on Sunday 21 August states ‘Bards land a coup in Roo’ – https://www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/latest-news/results/428043/bards-land-a-coup-in-roo/. Described as the biggest ever signing made by the Bards, it was also great to read that Adam also wants to be involved in some of the things we are doing in the community – judging by social media, he has already raised the profile of the club – https://www.stratfordtownfc.co.uk/news/rooney-arrival-sparks-media-storm?id=414553
The investment and commitment by the Chairman and supported by the Board is clear to see, especially in the infrastructure of the football club. For those of you that get up to the club on a regular basis, you will have noticed a lot of activity around the Knights Lane site. This includes newly refurbished outside classrooms alongside the 4G pitch, and a new drive alongside the classrooms which will eventually lead to new car parking just above the classrooms. The board is fully behind the full time education programme giving youngsters an opportunity to learn alongside being coached and playing for Academy sides and has invested a considerable amount of money into this programme and the infrastructure that goes with it.
There is also plenty to see and admire for Bardy Army supporters with 2 new seated stands, a new look Fanzone with a dedicated PA system next to the Pie and Pint Bar, Club Shop and our Supporters Club 50/50.
The winning ticket was claimed for the Hednesford Town game and the prize was £75
This year purchasers of 50 / 50 tickets are able to claim 10% off Car Servicing and have MOT’s for just £40 at Arden Garages https://ardengarages.co.uk/ when they present their ticket. Arden Garages have also helped to fund the cost of printing the tickets saving the The Supporters Association money. We will be selling tickets by the turnstiles every game.
We welcome volunteers to join us as and when supporters are available. The draw has been a tremendous success in raising thousands of pounds towards club projects over the last few years, so we would really appreciate your ongoing help and support on a matchday – https://www.stratfordtownfc.co.uk/teams/STRATFORD-TOWN/Fixtures_Results
Please could you let Jim or Chris Simpson know if you would be available to offer your time at any stage – either at the game or by emailing stratfordtownISA@gmail.com
