The club announced a double signing on Friday 25th November – going for experience again – a welcome return of Ahmed Obeng, back after leaving for Tamworth and defender James Mace on a dual registration from Leamington

Ahmed scored 3 goals in home games (against Redditch and in both games v Nuneaton) in 22 appearances (4 as sub). He set up many other chances as well on the wing.

James Mace has played over 420 times in 10 seasons for Leamington, scoring 13 goals for The Brakes. “James has spent the majority of his time at Leamington at right back and in central defence. Stratford Town confirm that defender Jimmy O’Neill has left the club by mutual consent.

Jimmy has moved to Stafford Rangers and the club wish him every success in his career.

He scored 1 goal but what a spectacular goal it was – the volley against Basford

CARL DICKINSON JOINS (10/11/22)

Bards have brought in another experienced defender – 35 year old Carl Dickinson who has played over 500 games for various clubs, mainly in the Midlands, through all top 5 divisions. He dropped down to National League level in 2019. According to Wikipedia – “Dickinson is a vocal player noted for his commitment, hard work and dedication”. From his interview on the Bards website, he can play left back and centre half and centre midfield last season as well –

Dickinson who spent most of his career in The Potteries left his last club Hanley in October where he was player manager – https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/carl-dickinson-hanley-stoke-vale-7701861 and he has also started coaching at Stoke City academy.

JACK STORER AND DEXTER WALTERS DEPART (09/11/22)

The club have announced that attacking players Jack Storer and Dexter Walters, who weren’t selected on Saturday, “have left the club by mutual consent” – https://www.stratfordtownfc.co.uk/news/jack-and-dex-depart?id=416723

Jack joined around this time last year and will be remembered for his spectacular goals, but also his 3 red cards (including our only red this season). According to the club website, he made a total of 23 appearances plus 5 as sub, scored 9 goals, had 11 yellow cards and the 3 reds. Life was never dull with Jack on the pitch who played through the middle and on the right side this season.

Winger Dexter joined at the start of the season and had a fine start making 8 appearances plus 7 as sub, scoring 2 goals. For me, he will be remembered for his late goal against Bromsgrove to seal the points – “a late flourish from substitute, Dexter Walters, saw him break from his own half, twist and turn the visitors’ defence before finishing emphatically.”

The club thanks them for their services and wishes them every success with their ongoing careers.

34-year-old Mikey had 3 productive on and off seasons at The Bards from 2016/19 scoring 45 goals in 119 appearances (30 as sub) including being top scorer with 21 goals in his last season. As well as his goalscoring record, he became a fans favourite affectionally being nicknamed ‘The Beast’ through using his strength to bulldoze through the defence and holding the ball up. He returned briefly last year where he made 8 appearances (4 as sub). Mikey played against us for Bromsgrove this year

35-year-old defender Martin has spent most of his career in the higher levels of non-league football before dropping down to step 3 in 2020. More stats on Wikipedia
