100 Up For Jamie Sheldon – And In Style

Jamie Sheldon made his 100th Town appearance at Kettering on Saturday and celebrated it with another of his trademark long range “specials.”

Jamie switched to Town from Leamington in October 2013 and made his debut in the F A Trophy tie against Coalville Town at the DCS followed by his first League appearance at Tiverton a week later where he also opened his Town goalscoring account.

He was an ever present in Carl Adams’ side from then on making 36 appearances in all while contributing 15 goals from midfield as Town topped the 100 mark in that memorable debut Southern League campaign.

The following season began just as well as he played in six of the first seven matches hitting one further goal, but after the F A Cup disaster at Blaby and Whetstone he moved to Sutton Coldfield Town where he was part of the squad which achieved promotion to the Northern League Premier Division.

He returned to the DCS for the start of last season and was again a regular in the starting line-up as Town adapted to the brave new world of the Premier Division missing only 4 of their 56 games as he finished in top spot in the Appearances stats and with only Richard Gregory bettering his 11 goals.

And he really hit the headlines with his six minute hat-trick against Histon in an F A Trophy replay at the DCS in November which is surely the fastest ever in Town history.

Always ready to have a shot whenever an opportunity presents itself most of his goals are from 20 plus yards range and usually within the spectacular category, but none more so than the two which propelled Town to their win over Hitchin on his 99th appearance last weekend.

So it was entirely appropriate that he should add another at Kettering with an inch perfect 35 yard effort over the stranded Poppies keeper.

And with appearance number 101 coming up against his old club Leamington hopefully he has not finished with the sensational just yet.
