“We were nowhere near it today” was the typically honest reaction from a downbeat Paul Davis afterwards
“It’s disappointing because over the past three games I felt we were getting somewhere. I could be standing here saying that we drew the game nil-nil but we haven’t because Kyle Rowley handles the ball to give away the penalty and then the keeper makes a mistake at the end.
I just felt that from the beginning of the game we never really got started at all and there didn’t seem to be any enthusiasm.
I know it’s hard to come off the bus and be ready to play after the horrendous five hour journey we had to get here but that’s no excuse. It’s something that everyone got to deal with as we’re back over here in a few weeks time to play Leiston.
If we play like we have done in recent weeks we will pick up enough points to be safe by the middle of April, but if we carry on playing like we did today it will go on right to the last day of the season and given that our last match is away to Bromsgrove that’s something we definitely don’t want.
The only blessing we’ve got at the minute is that the other teams aren’t picking up any points either but it doesn’t get any easier for us as our next game in a fortnight’s time is away to the League leaders.” .
