“I thought that we did alright and we created some good chances in the right areas” reflected a rueful Paul Davis afterwards.
“But the pitch was dreadful. It was the worst I’ve seen here and it suited their style of play better. They didn’t do things differently to what they normally do.
I felt we were on top early on but individuals have got to do better for their goals. We should have cleared the first one and for the second Kynan simply has to do deal with it. He’s an experienced player and should know what to do in that situation.
Then the third goal was from a long throw-in from which they should never score from and it has to be defended better.
We did have chances particularly when Sweeney had one blocked and Roberts had the follow-up cleared off the line, but I think that we’ve now got to win a third of our games to stay in this Division.
Redditch are probably already gone but there’s still time for St Ives to have a go and we’ve got to be careful of Alvechurch.
Kings Langley beat Bromsgrove today so that’s going to be another tough game next Saturday.
At least we got a striker now, but the problem we have is that he may decide after a month that we’re not for him as he’s got that option.
So I think we need to strengthen this week. We had a strong bench at Redditch but with Ross Oulton gone we only had defenders on the bench today and that limits what we can do.
And as of now we don’t know about Dan Sweeney’s injury. He’s wrapped in ice and with no midweek game he’s got seven days to recover. We’ll obviously look after him the best we can and hopefully he’ll be alright.”
