“It’s hard to say we’ve done well yet got nothing for it ” – Paul Davis

thumbnail_5F3A7392“I feel it really difficult coming out and blaming referees” said a frustrated Paul Davis afterwards ” but I’ve just spoken to Mitchell Glover who was here giving his Town kit back as he is signing for Hednesford.

He was watching from the stand and said it was never a penalty in a million years, but we lose the game because of it.

Otherwise I didn’t feel that they caused us any real threats although they had a lot of the ball.

We defended very well and we should have scored straight after the restart when that chance fell to Tom Mehew.

And we do need to take our chances.  The reason we beat Hednesford at home was because we took two chances early on and that made it difficult for them from then on.

I think that their number 8 should have been sent off for his tackle on Lewis Wilson which was as high as you can get and I find it really hard to say we’ve done well yet got nothing for it.

We should have left with a point today against a team that will probably finish in the play offs but we haven’t because of a decision that’s debatable at best.

And that’s the frustrating thing.  against Bromsgrove two weeks ago their winning goal was scored when Sam Lomax was down having been fouled as the ball came across.

It’s said that these decisions even themselves out.  If that’s true there’s a lot of evening out to be done.

On other matters I can confirm that Jim Scott has joined as my assistant .  He’s been involved with the Northampton Town academy and has already taken three training sessions with the squad so he’ll be a real asset as we look to strengthen off the field as well as on it.

But after a brief spell back Nathan Marsh has decided not to stay with us.      .
