Town travelled to Kettering on Saturday with a mixture of 1st team and Academy players. There was a good turn out of Kettering supporters and one lone supporter from Stratford.
Kettering started the game with seven players who started their last match plus ex Town defender Michael McGrath and in contrast Town fielded just two in Kyle Rowley and Courtney Richards but with the added support from Boubakar Traore, Charley O’Keefe, Joe Curtis, Luke Rowe, Chris Wreh and the returning Kian Williams they weren’t without experience. Jack Bennett started in goal.
Michael O’Regan and Sammy Mould from the Academy both started in the back line for Town and Max Thomas, Harry Parker and Myles Lowe also from the Academy made appearances, to see five Academy players finish the game for Town. Abraham Eze and Jarrell Mylton got a run out late on.
Kettering scored in the first five minutes of the first half and first ten minutes of the second half but this was a game that was never about the result.
This was a useful work out for both sides with added minutes for numerous members of the 1st team squad and valuable experience for some of the Academy hopefuls. In particular there was an accomplished performance form centre half Sammy Mould.
