“We said during the week that it was a must win game and we did what we had to do to win it but we must still do better” was Tommy Wright’s assessment afterwards.
“We again gave ourselves a problem when we went 1-0 down so early and a few nerves set in, but the lads showed the necessary character to get us back in to the game. We scored three good goals and when Kairo hit the bar he could easily have won one if not two penalties on his way through to set up the opening for the shot.
He showed what a player he is and what he will end up being. He is too good for this level and shouldn’t really be here having been with the ex-Premier League champions but he is where he is and we are giving him a platform to play. He has real talent and I hope he will go on from here to have a really good career .
George Heaven came off with a twisted knee and he must be doubtful for next week.
With regard to the players who were missing this afternoon Joe Curtis was out injured but Kurtis Revan has left us while Dylan Parker has returned to Rugby as he wishes to play regularly and have more game time which he will clearly get there.
Nonetheless he remains our player as he is dual registered.
We are now looking forward to facing Lowestoft next Saturday when we will be targeting another positive result before we face Wolves in the County Cup. That game may provide opportunities for two or three of our squad players as the League game is very much the priority.”
