“I applauded every single one of them off the pitch” – Tommy Wright

“We were loads better” reflected Tommy Wright afterwards..  “They were unbeaten, we’re coming to their patch and our  form in our two away games at Stourbridge and Rushall had been poor..

But we defended well and their goal had an element of a fluke about it.  It looked as if the ball bobbled as he went to cross it and it flew into the top corner.    I would have accepted a point before we kicked off but at the end I felt that we deserved all three.

We asked for a reaction from the boys and for more togetherness.   We worked hard on the shape in training on Thursday and set a lot of   challenges for the boys today.   They took it upon themselves to deliver and  I applauded every single one of them off the pitch.    And that’s how it’s got to be.

I thought that the two new lads did well and they both made a difference.. When a team is not doing  performing introducing a couple of  new faces always seems to help   –  not bringing in six or seven as I might have felt like  –    but today we picked a squad  which didn’t include some lads who had been playing in recent weeks and they now know what they need to do if they are to come back.”.
