Tommy Wright – “I’m looking forward to the new season and can’t wait to get started”

“We had a number of ;players unavailable tonight but even so we went with a squad which should have done better” admitted Town boss Tommy Wright after seeing the Robins run out narrow winners in the last pre-season friendly. before the visit of Needham Market on Saturday.

“I was disappointed with a few individuals and those individuals have probably played themselves out of a place in the team.  I expect them to be upset but surprised probably not.

I would love to have finished pre-season with a win which would have seen us go out on a high so  I’m disappointed with the result and with a large part of the performance , but this is now the crunch time as I get around to finalising the squad

The recent departures  of Chris Cox and  Kynan Isaac have hit us, but I want a settled squad and a happy dressing room and  I’m happy with where we’re at.

Now we want the new season to get off to a good start.    Paul Davis and I went to watch Needham Market on Friday night and Stourbridge on Saturday.   Needham are a decent footballing side who will want to take the game to us so we got to stamp our authority on that from the off, while Stourbridge are similar to ourselves in having a new manager with a new group of players, new training methods and a new playing philosophy.

So it’s now up to us. I’m looking forward to it and can’t wait to get started.”

Nice to hear a manager that knows he’s in charge and won’t take any sh 1 t from players who should grow up !!! Let’s see how many deserters will wish they were back at Stratford in a few weeks when they realise the grass isn’t always greener!!! Good luck boss I for one am looking forward to watching YOUR team at the Arden . DT
