“It was a tremendous performance from us this afternoon and it makes up for what happened over there” beamed a delighted Thomas Baillie after seeing his side demolish fellow play off contenders Needham Market.
“The first 70 minutes were the best we’ve played since I’ve been here , and when we are in that sort of form we are a match for anybody. Even after we made our substitutions we were still taking the game to them, and as soon as we went three up the game was over.
Needham are a big and strong side, and it was important that we went at them from the start. Albi Skendi was immense in spite of being on the end of some rough treatment and Chris Cox makes a huge difference for us with his surges forward down the right.
It was good to see Nabil Shariff get on the scoresheet. He is a great striker at this level if you give him the right service and we were better at doing that today, while I was also pleased to see Ross Etheridge enjoy another assured game in goal
I have stressed before the importance of taking points off the teams around us, and so today’s win was vital in that respect. We are now four points ahead of Needham and they’ve played two more games than us so the gap is starting to open up and with Coalville losing today the gap to them has grown as well.
So all in all it’s been an excellent weekend for us, but we know that Alvechurch will provide us with another tough challenge on Tuesday evening.”
