“We are disappointed but we weren’t disgraced” reflected Town boss Thomas Baillie after seeing his side battle both a slick Fylde team and also the atrocious weather conditions.
“Their class told but we were punished for our mistakes particularly in the first half when our mistakes led to all three of their goals. In our League you can sometimes get away with those sorts of mistakes but at National League level you get punished every time .
Had we held them to 2-0 at half time we might have had a chance in the second half with the wind behind us but that third goal took it beyond us.
The gulf between National League and the Southern League Premier Division is absolutely huge but we gave it our best shot and I would like to thank all the supporters who made the journey in the wind and rain to cheer us on.”
