Baillie – “It’a A Good Team That Can Win Without Playing Well”

5F3A0296.jpeg“We were poor in the first half” was Thomas Baillie’s honest assessment after seeing his side snatch another late win against Barwell.  “I said to them at half time that I’ve kept a settled side in recent games and that it was time for them to repay my faith by turning it round in the second half.

To their credit they did, but I always felt that with the wind behind us after half time we would go to win and once we equalised I was certain that we would..   We missed a few chances before we finally got there right at the death but after half time we were much the better side and the longer the game went on there was only going to be one winner.

It was great to see Jamie McAteer get his first goal for the club but I believe that he and Jordan Williams along with Mike Taylor should always be a threat at set pieces because in Will Grocott we have one of the  best  –  if not the best   –  deliverer of a dead ball into the danger area that there is in this League.

The saying is that it takes a good side to win when not playing well and we did that today.  There is a tremendous belief in the side and they all want to play in every game.

Having won today we don’t have as much pressure going into Tuesday’s game against Tamworth as if the result had gone the other way, and after that it’s the big one against Fylde.

Naturally all the lads are looking forward to that one.”
