Josh Aspinall-Smyth’s sweetly struck spot kick deep into added time extended Town Youth’s winning run to five and propelled them into second spot in the MFYL Premier Division South table two points behind leaders Worcester City with two games in hand.
Earlier Darren Timms’ side had made a blistering start with strikes from Michael O’Regan and Tyrike Richards-Burke putting them two up inside the opening quarter of an hour only for Lye to hit back with a brace from Jack Dunn levelling it all off at half time.
And in a closely fought second half a point apiece seemed a certainty until Lye conceded that late penalty and Aspinall-Smyth did the rest.
