Dan Moves to The Reds

Having not been included in any of Town’s matchday squads so far this season popular defender Dan Summerfield has decided to seek game time elsewhere and has now switched to Redditch United..

Previously with Merthyr Town Dan moved to the Midlands to study Economics at Birmingham University, and after a brief spell at Halesowen he joined Town in August 2016.

Making his debut in a goalless draw at Slough he turned in a Man of the Match performance and from then on was a regular in the side ending the 2016/17 season with 42 appearances.

He was also soon on the scorer’s list as well hitting the target against Hitchin on only his second Town appearance, although he had to wait until the season’s final game against Dorchester to do so again.

It was more of the same last time round as he clocked up 44 appearances and found the back of the net three times including Town’s second goal in that epic F A  Cup tie at Scarborough which for a long time looked as if it would be the strike which fired Town into the Fourth Qualifying Round for the first time ever.

And at the end of that campaign his trademark reliability and consistency earned him the Stratford Herald Player of the Season Award.

But it hasn’t worked out for Dan this time round which has prompted the move to Redditch, and all supporters will thank him for his efforts at Town and wish him well at his new club.
