Town Youth made the perfect start to their new MFYL Premier Division South campaign with a well deserved success at newly promoted Evesham United on Monday evening.
With only three players available from last season’s League Cup winning side due to holidays and injuries it was a young looking starting line-up which included six 16 year old, but after understandably taking time to settle they began to take control from halfway through the first half with James Pomeroy and Sone causing the Evesham defence plenty of problems down both flanks.
And shortly before half time Town took the lead when Tommy Harrington’s fiercely struck shot was too much for the Evesham keeper who could only parry it into the net.
Town continued to boss the game after the break and doubled their lead when Tom Carwardine crossed to fellow sub Jack Ballinger who made it 2-0 with a crisp finish.
With Town making further substitutions Evesham came more into the game late on and pulled one back with a header from a corner but Town held on grittily to clinch the win.
