With Darren Byfield quite rightly emphasising that performances are more important than results Town moved up a gear in their preparations for the new season with two friendlies in three days at the end of last week.
First up was a run-out at Highgate United on Thursday evening with the Gate having the better of a 3-2 scoreline followed by a 12 noon kick off at Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday which ended 2-2.
With multiple half time changes in each game Town used some 23 players including striker Nabil Shariff who was on target in both matches and who scored a late equaliser against Town for St Neots back in January, and keeper Dan Jezeph who was at Tamworth last season having previously spent time as a trainee at both West Bromwich Albion and Walsall
Town’s next scheduled friendly is on Saturday (July 14th) away at Walsall Wood followed by a trip to Coleshill Town two days later before the action moves to the MoodChimp on Wednesday (July 18th) when Town take on EFL League One side Walsall with the game kicking off at 7.45 pm.
