Alvechurch 2 Town Youth 1

In a closely fought game at a rainsoaked  Lye Meadow on Wednesday evening Town Youth lost by the odd goal in three, but the result might have been different had their finishing radar been working more efficiently.

Town were the better side in the opening 20 minutes with Harry Jones narrowly off target from close in and then having a fiercely struck effort from 20 yards out  cannoning against the post.

But the Church then caught Town on the break as they launched a quick counter attack ending with Aiden Vaughan firing them ahead, and soon after they doubled their lead from a Tyler Stevens free kick.

Town though continued to push forward and a typical assured strike by Dylan Parker put them right back into the game at the interval.

Nick Ballinger’s side created several more decent chances in the second half with Parker, George Kirby and Harry Hartin all going frustratingly close but the Church held on to take the points.
