Returning to the MoodChimp Stadium on Saturday after three consecutive away games Town faced the most high profile opposition of their pre-season programme in National League side Solihull Moors.
With several key players ruled out through injury and/or holidays including Guy Clark, James Fry, Andy Gallinagh and Loyiso Recci it was a tough task for Town against a Moors line-up which included former Town Youth player Jack Edwards, but they weren’t overawed and half time was reached with the game still goal-less.
The Moors upped their tempo after the break with ex-Birmingham City midfielder Darren Carter firing them ahead on the hour mark with a long range special followed by Jermaine Hylton – who was at Swindon Town last season having previously been at Redditch United – adding their second with a clinical finish seven minutes later.
Town wind up their schedule of pre-season friendlies with home games against Bromsgrove Sporting on Tuesday August 1st and Sutton Coldfield Town next Saturday (August 5th).
