Assuming Sunday’s TLC by fans is not ruined by this week’s inclement weather, Saturday sees Town face a Puritans side that has won its last five games. They are likely to bring a good number of supporters to continue their charge into the play-off zone – perhaps pushing out Merthyr for another fruitless quest for promotion. Therefore the Townite Faithful will hopefully come along “en masse” to support Town so as not to be out-cheered by our Oxfordshire neighbours.
The match is likely – and hopefully – to be a keen footballing affair as either team is chasing points for either promotion possibility or safety from relegation.
However, for Town there are even more reasons :-
– bragging derby rights, as well as revenge for the away defeat in December
– final confirmation of SLP football at DCS next season (as Carl sees it)
– putting a dent in Banbury’s hope of a play-off place because, theoretically, we could lose TWO local derbies next season if Leamington were to overcome Chippenham as champions and Banbury were to win the play-offs
– we could climb to a more a satisfactory position of 15th, overtaking Dunstable and Redditch, if we continue our better form.
Carl and the lads will appreciate your company and support !
Up the Town !
